Lowell Dunham
Born:  October 14, 1910, Wellston, Oklahoma
Died: September 17, 2001, Norman Oklahoma
Dr. Dunham was organizer and founder of the Oklahoma Foreign Language Teachers' Association.  He was Chairman of the Department Of Modern Languages at the University of Oklahoma for 20 years.  A few of Dr. Dunham's accomplishments include being a past president of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), being named Caballero de la Orden de Simón Bolívar in Venezuela, 1957,  and receiving  the
Distinguished Service Citation awarded by OU in May, 1987. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Educators' Hall of Fame in October, 1988.
